- It's a good idea to start by exfoliating that dead skin that dulls your complexion.
There are some great products on the market today. For your face, there are products like Mary Kay Microdermabrasion which comes with a replenishment cream or Neutrogena has a great system as well. If you don't like the feel of anything abrasive, we liked Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Facial Peel as well.
For your lips, especially if they tend to get dry, Mary Kay has a product called Satin Lips - lip mask that smoothes them. The above products on the outer areas of your mouth work well too, just don't ingest any.Go easy on your lips though, the skin is thinner.
- Now do any grooming that needs to be done, like plucking eyebrows.
A great beauty tip for tired eyes is to try Mavala Eye-Lite drops. They get the red out and give you a healthy looking eye again.
- Apply any creams now.
We like Nivea Visage Coenzyme Q-10 plus wrinkle control eye cream and it
works just as well, if not better than, Lancome Renergie Yeux (higher price doesn't always mean it works better). A beauty tip to get rid of eye puffiness, Saje has a product called Eye Amaze that we loved.
If you want sunscreen, Mary Kay has Timewise - Day Solution that moisturizes well and has SPF 15.
We found Origins - A Perfect World provided a nice finish for makeup.
- It is now time to conceal any imperfections.
We liked Max Factor - Erace, it truly stays. Apply it on all red areas, including blemishes. If you have dark circles, try this beauty tip, don't just apply it underneath your eye. Apply it on the inside corner by you nose, it tends to get dark in there and lightening that area can help make your eyes look less sunken.
More beauty tips for concealer are:
If your face is narrow, apply a few dots on your cheek bones to give your face a wider appearance.
If you tend to frown, put a little at the corners of your mouth.
If your nose is wide, run a thin line of concealer down the middle of your nose.
"There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion."- Sir Francis Bacon.
- If you where eyeshadow, apply some eyeshadow base on your lid for longer lasting color.
If you have any sensitivities to eyeshadow and have not been able to wear it, you'll really appreciate this beauty tip. Try Mavala Eye Base or Mary Kay Signature - eye primer, this may be just the additional barrier you need.
- Now apply your foundation.
We tried Mac, Lancome and we found the best coverage with Mary Kay Full Coverage Foundation.
- Now set make up with powder.
Bronzing powder is the rage right now and it gives a healthy, youthful glow.
- If you use an eyebrow pencil, now is the time to apply it.
- Now apply eyeshadow.
A great neutral base is Mac - Nylon Frost, it brightens your eye area.
- Apply top eyeliner
We really liked Loreal Lineur Intense eyeliner, it takes a bit of getting used to. It makes a clean line with staying power.
- Curl eyelashes
Maybelline used to make the BEST eyelash curler, you can still get the rubber refills, but we haven't been able to locate the actual curler. La Cross makes one like it, but it has a much cheaper feel. The plastic ones do not work near as well as the metal ones. The heated ones are very hard on your eyelashes, for everyday use.
The secret to getting a natural curl is to have dry, CLEAN eyelashes and start at about 1/4 of the way from the end, repeat 2 more times, moving down 1/4 of the way each time. Don't squeeze as hard as you can, that
is how you get an unnatural kinked look.
- Apply mascara to top eyelashes
When applying mascara have patience, thin coats work best. Remember the ends because they open up your eye. The corner lashes, especially the outside corner can make your eyes look further apart.
If your eyelashes aren't much to work with you will not regret trying this beauty tip, use Mavala Eye-Lite Double Lash. It really works, try applying some every night before bed.
- Apply bottom eyeliner
We really like Cover Girl perfect point plus. This pencil always goes on easily and requires no messy sharpening!
- Apply bottom mascara
This can be difficult without getting it underneath your lashes. Don't worry about it, just get it on those lashes.
A moist q-tip should easily remedy any mascara that gets where it shouldn't be. This can also help to get the bottom liner as thin as you want it to be. If you get a lot of mascara under your eye, you may need to touch up under you eye with a bit more concealer.
- Apply lip outliner pencil for a nice clean line of lip color (no feathering)
With all of the new rich lipstick colors for Fall, your won't want to forget this beauty tip. The only one we know of is the Mary Kay Signature - Lip Outliner Pencil.
This is applied just outside your lip line and keeps lipstick and lipgloss
in place.

- Apply lipliner
Aveda has great lipliners, Morena goes with many colors of lipstick.
- Apply lipstick
We really like MAC lipstick, it has great staying power.
If you want a pouty look try putting lipgloss just in the center of your top and bottom lip.
