Eye makeup tip to create space between close-set eyes

Finding the right eye makeup tip can make a huge difference in the symmetry of your face.

Applying eyeliner tips

When purchasing eyeliner, consider the softness of the lead. The softer it is, the easier it will go on and the better the end result will be.

  • Apply eyeliner on the top and bottom lids starting at the middle of your pupil to about 1/8-1/4 inch beyond where your eyelashes stop (on a slight upward angle)
  • This draws attention to the outside of your eye, which makes them appear farther apart.

Applying eyeshadow tips

If you want a defined clean look, apply eyeshadow first then eyeliner. If you are after more of a smokey look, try eyeliner then eyeshadow over top.

  • Start with an eyeshadow base or primer and let it dry.
  • Base/Primer gives your eyelid a smooth surface to apply eyeshadow evenly and the color stays longer. The extra barrier between your skin and the drying effects of eyeshadow doesn't hurt either.

When choosing a color palette of eyeshadow be sure to consider your eye color and skin tone.

  • Apply the lightest shade of the color palette you have chosen on your eyelid and above the crease of your eyelid.
  • This will help to freshen your eye and take away any darkness, as well as provide easy blending for the other colors you will use.

  • Apply the mid tone on the outer half of your eyelid.
  • Apply a small amount of the darkest color of your palette on the very outside of your eye just above the crease, blend well.
  • This will draw the eye outward.

When putting on mascara, put the emphasis on the corner lashes to draw the eye even further outward.
