TIPS ON SHOES WITH SKIRTS
Very short skirts usually look better with lower heels. Stiletto heels are a very unsophisticated choice
with very short skirts, but they can also make your legs actually appear shorter when paired together. If you are
considering boots stick to knee-high, midcalf and ankle cut off the leg by creating horizontal lines.
Straight, pleated, and A-line skirts work well with kitten heels.
Knee length skirts just aren't right paired with flats, unless a matronly look is your goal.
Long skirts lend themselves to a sophisticated look quite easily. They look great with just about any
shoe, except loafers.
TIPS ON SHOES WITH PANTS AND SUITS
The most flattering shoes for business attire have stacked heels. Stilettos can also be flattering, if your pants
are long enough to just show the toe. Loafer and oxfords with pants are for the very tall and thin. Boots are a great look.
Cropped pants look good with kitten heels or flats and knee high boots are very today.
TIPS ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A SHOE
First lets get some of the jargon out of the way:
Vamp is the top part of the shoe.
Throat is the opening of the shoe.
- A high cut vamp (less of your foot shows when it is cut higher on the foot) can make your legs
appear heavier and shorter when paired with a skirt, save them for pants
- A tapered toe is the most slimming, but are killer on the toes. Squared off toes are a sophisticated
look without the pain and can be just as flattering
- Thin soles are the most slimming
- Don't wear black shoes with a lighter toner outfit, it cuts off leg length
- White shoes are stark, they bread the line of your leg and make your feet look BIG. Off white is a better option, but not if it
is a white outfit
- Embellished or bright shoes can make an outfit, but remember they also attract more attention to your feet
and they can look bigger. Choose the barer ones when your can
- Strappy looks actually cut off your leg, try flesh toned if you don't want to shorten your leg
TIPS ON CHOOSING SHOES FOR YOUR BODY TYPE
For Short Women
- A 2 inch heel is as high as you should go
Use other methods to elongate your appearance. Monochramatic looks, match stockings to shoes and
skirt. Create vertical lines and as few horizontal as possible.
For Thick Ankles or Heavy Calves
- slingback shoes are the best for you
- Boots are great too, just make sure they don't dig in to your leg (find proper calf circumference)
- Try to wear at least a half inch heel
- Avoid ankle straps
USEFUL ADVICE ON FINDING A PROPER FIT
- Shop later in the day (your feet swell during the day)
- Don't be fixated on size
